Canucks have been playing in the National Hockey Legue (NHL) for over 30 years. Thier very first game was played on October 9th 1970 against the Los Angeles Kings. The very 1st time they made the playoffs was in the 1974/75 season, but they lost in the first round against the Montreal Canadiens. In 1994 the Canucks made it all the way to the Stanley Cup finals!!! Canucks have never won the Stanley Cup and only in the past 33 years have they ever come as close! but this other time started a tradition that still exists today! It was in 1982, they were different players, but still our Vancouver Canucks! While they were battleling Chicago, the Canucks coach Roger Neilson, was frusterated at all the unfair penalties called against Vancouver, that he grabbed a towel, draped it on a hockey stick, and held it up as if to say, "We surender!" He was kicked out'a the game for that! While the Canucks were flying back to home against Chicago, they were very startled to see an air Canada piolet waving a white towel out of his plane window! When they all go insite the airport EVERY worker was waving a white towel as well as over a hundered fans!!!!! Towel Power was born!!!Remember, Our awesome Canucks started all this!! I wonder what other kinds of things they will start?!?! Oh also, have you been wondering why that Cup is called the Stanley Cup?! Well I'll tell you why! It's all because for some reason they named it after Lord Stanley! I will do more research on that so keep looking at my site and checking it out! You never know when I will update it!
